Thesis – Design and Implementation a KMA based Transcoding Scheme for Real-time DASH Streaming System

Nowadays, there is an increasing requirement for HTTP streaming over mobile network. Lots of online platforms provide multimedia streaming services. We can find that the quantity of videos that few people seen is much more than popular videos. For that, it is necessary to save the storage on server efficiently. It is the same to save the storage when playing videos on personal Network Attached Storage (NAS). Moreover, a standard for HTTP streaming to enable interoperability between different vendors is necessary and convenience. Therefore, we proposed a live transcoding scheme for live Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) based on Kernel Moving Average (KMA). KMA is used to estimate throughput. The scheme can transcode instantly when users play the multimedia contents online.
